This morning we take back Everon from the Russians. Getting into the airbase without
being spotted will be a challenge. If we can do that, the airstrikes can take care of
the rest. My commanders say that moving through the forest will be our best bet
if we don't want to be spotted, but they aren't the ones stepping into hostile
territory. We might want to avoid the forests alltogether.
I should review the Targeting System Operation Manual. The last thing I want to do
is call an airstrike on myself.

Targeting System Operation Manual
Overview:
The Air Strike/Targeting System was pioneered by toadlife in late September 2001.
It works by finding units at a specified distance, and sending their coordinates to
a bomber. Currently, only the A-10 has been fitted with this targeting system, but other aircraft
may be used in the future. The initial target range is pre-programmed into the targeting unit and can be
adjusted using the custom action commands.
Click on the middle mouse button to access the
three custom action commands.
They are:
Find Target
Increase Distance
Decrease Distance
The system is best used with the aide of binoculars, from a distance of around 250
meters - However, it can be used from any distance as long as the target is within visible
range.
Usage:
Aim the crosshairs of your binoculars at the target and use the "`" key (below the ESC key) to
get an accurate distance to your intended target. Now, set the distance using the
"Increase/Decrease Distance" commands from the action menu. When the distance in the target finder is as close as possible
to the actual distance of the target, use the "Find Target" command to set the target.
The target will be displayed in a hint box.
Once you are satisfied with the target, use the
radio (0,0,7) to call the air strike. The bomber will acknowledge your command and engage the target.
If the target is destroyed it will disengage, and if it has bombs left it will stand
by, waiting for another target. After setting a second target you must call the
strike again.
You may also cancel the air strike (0,0,8) at any time using the radio. This may prove useful if
you accidentally call a strike due to a typo, or if just change your mind for some reason.
The bomber will let you know if you call a strike and no target is set. If you call a strike
with no target set, the bomber will wait and engage as soon as you do set a target. Cancel
the strike to keep this from happening.
Tips:
* Targets must be units, and be operational (alive). They cannot be buildings or inanimate objects.
* If you get "No target found" when trying to find a target, try adjusting the distance to just
below the actual distance to the target and make sure you are facing the target.
* The air strike may not go as planned. Allways have a backup plan!
* Note that the targeting system uses the direction your BODY is facing, and not your HEAD.
The Russians now have complete control over the Northern tip of Everon, but pockets
of Resistance fighters have been causing the Russians havoc near their airbase, North
of Saint Phillippe. We must take advantage of the Russians' distraction.
Your job is to infiltrate their airbase and with the aid of
air strikes, cause as much damage as possible. You must destroy at least two of their
armored vehicles, and any aircraft you find.
Large Russian patrols have been spotted on the beaches and in the areas inland around
the forests. We recommend staying in the forests to avoid
detection by Eastern forces. Russian patrols will probably steer clear of the forests, as the Resistance
use them for cover. The Resistance is hostile towards any outside force, therefore, anyone
carrying a gun is to be considered hostile. When you are ready to come home, radio the PBR
(0,0,2) and move to the extraction point.
Infiltrate the airbase, and destroy at least two of the armored vehicles.
Destroy all aircraft stationed at the airbase.
The Russian presence at the airbase and has been all but eliminated. Everon is as good as ours!
While the airbase wasn't destroyed completely, you did a good amount of damage. Since the Russians are now on high alert, we will have to move in and finish the job the old fashioned way.
I don't even want to know what the hell were you doing out there. General Pierce would like to see you immediately.
